The nature of healthcare is rapidly changing, with people continually adopting a more proactive stance towards their health and taking care of themselves. Against the backdrop of increasing healthcare consumerisation, patients and consumers are increasingly acting as the treatment decision makers and paying for medications themselves. This report explores key out‑of‑pocket (OOP) dynamics across 15 markets, comparing behaviours, attitudes and intentions of individuals regarding treatment purchases across eyecare, weight loss, neurology and dermatology.
Findings from the report will inform current and future size of out-of-pocket behaviours and the demographics driving these behaviours. Deeper insights can be achieved by profiling respondent cohorts by comorbidities and socio-demographic variables (including income, education, employment status, etc.), thus informing more nuanced targeting strategies.
